MUMBAI – “I had recorded a whole cassette of songs and poetry to give to my first crush. I thought, instead of saying it traditionally, I should say it musically and in a literary fashion (girls like such stuff, I believe).
I then sent it to her through a common friend waiting in anticipation for her response. The friend came back five minutes later saying she didn’t take it! And then I said melodramatically, taking a reverse turn, “Ab toh puri dunya meri awaaz sunegi! Since then, the world has been suffering listening to me sing. That’s my funny little romantic story at 17.”
